Let’s try Spa-Katsu( Spaghetti-Cutlet ), Kushiro’s iconic food.
Eight exchange students visited Kushiro City Hall and told Mayor Ebina their aspirations. They were four exchange students from Turku University of Applied Sciences (TUAS) in Finland, and four from Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology (TNI). They have begun studying at Kushiro College, National Institute of Technology (Principal Tomohiko Otsuka) as exchange students since last month, May. This is the ninth time Kushiro college has accepted the TUAS students, and this is the first time Kushiro college has accepted the TNI students. Kushiro college signed an academic exchange agreement with TNI in 2018, but Covid-19 hindered students from coming. They paid a courtesy call on Mayor of Kushiro Ebina on May 18th (Thursday). After their self-introduction, they presented souvenirs such as chocolates, towels to Mayor Ebina. Mr. Thomas said, “I heard that the local cuisine in Kushiro is very delicious. I want to try it.” Mr. Ebina said, “The students in Kushiro often eat Spa-Katsu( Spaghetti-Cutlet ) after finishing school. I want you to try it.” The TUAS students are going to stay in Kushiro until August 4th(Friday), and the TNI students until June 16th(Friday). They learn their major field of study such as information technology and mechanical engineering.
