【H25フィンランド留学生滞在記】第8週目6月10日〜6月16日
この滞在記は，2名のフィンランド交換留学生が2013年4月22日に釧路に到着してから，3か月の留学体験とおして色々感じた日本での生活，学校生活などを語って頂く滞在記です。
滞在も後半に入り，研究プロジェクトもだんだんと進展してきている様子で，成果が楽しみになってきました。
今週は寮の国費留学生に誘われて，おいしいたこ焼を経験したり，友人の家でたこ焼パーティに参加してチーズたこ焼を作ったりして，たこ焼が好きになったようです。
Weekly Report 8 (Milka Tossasvainen)
We came back to Kushiro from Sapporo early in the Monday morning. It is very difficult to sleep in the night bus so I was very tired, and decided it was better to stay in the dormitory and get some rest. Unfortunately Heidi hadn’t checked her e-mail, so we had a surprise wake up call when we were suddenly told to participate a fire-drill. We quickly put clothes on and soon after that we went outside. Nothing interesting happened after that.
On Wednesday we had both Eric’s and Brian’s English lessons. Eric’s lesson was fun like always, and on Brian’s lesson we played scrabble. Even though I’m not very good with games like that, it was very fun. In the evening, we went to eat takoyaki with the other international students to a house where a woman would cook for us. It was a bit strange to go to eat at someone’s home, but it was also very nice and I had fun. I had already eaten a dinner at dormitory so I ended eating too much on that evening.
On Thursday evening we put some Finnish chocolate on a tray where everyone of the girls in the dormitory could come and take a taste of the chocolate if they wanted. Munjuu had helped us to get the word around, so everyone knew to come. The chocolate is rather famous and it is the best-selling chocolate in Finland, so we thought that.
On Sunday we had a takoyaki party at Mogi’s house where Megumi had invited us. We made the takoyaki ourselves and I also helped turning them on the pan, Megumi did the most of the work though. Making the takoyaki was fun, and we ate a lot, or actually too much, and felt ourselves sleepy after that. After eating we played Jenga, I had never before played it and it was fun. Wen we came back to the dormitory, we had to take some rest because our stomachs were so full. Later that day, a girl came to our door and gave us both a popsicle and thanked us for the chocolate earlier, it was very nice.
During this week I spent time doing both the project and the assignment from advanced programming that are both POV-Ray tasks. For the project, I have made earlier some sofa models with POV-Ray using declare method, but they weren’t very good so I made them better and used macros this time. I have noticed that macros are sometimes very useful. I’m also planning making a house model, or more likely just walls and floor at the moment, so I can place the furniture I have made there. As for the assignment, I have been trying to do somewhat realistic apple and I’m planning to place it on the table that is next to a window. I’m trying to use everything I have learned when doing the assignment.
Next week we are planning to visit tea ceremony club and maybe trying flower arrangement on Wednesday.

月曜日の早朝，札幌から釧路に到着しました。夜行バスは寝づらくとても疲れたので，学校を休み寮で休むことにしました。ヘイディさんがＥメールを読んでいなかったため，私たちは突然の避難訓練の合図に驚き，急いで着替えて外に出ました。その後，何も楽しいことは起こりませんでした。
水曜日，エリック先生とブライアン先生の英会話の授業があり，ブライアン先生の授業ではscrabbleというゲームをやりました。このゲームはあまり得意ではないのですが，授業はとても楽しかったです。夕方はある女性のお宅でたこ焼きをご馳走してくれるというので，他の留学生達と一緒にお邪魔することにしました。他人の家に入るのは少し妙な感じでしたが，楽しかったです。(注)
もうすでに寮での夕食を済ませた後だったので，この日は食べ過ぎてしまいました。
(注)：学校の近くのたこ焼屋さんです。自宅で開業しているので，店に入りきれないときは自宅のリビングを開放してくれます。
木曜日の夕方，寮にいる女子学生のみんなにフィンランドのチョコレートを配りました。ムンジュさんがみんなに伝えてくれて，来てくれました。このチョコレートは有名でフィンランドでもっとも売れている有名なものなので，私たちが思いついた企画でした。
日曜日は恵さんに誘われ，茂木さんの家でたこ焼きパーティをしました。私たちも自分でたこ焼きを返すのを手伝いましたが恵さんがほとんど作ってくれました。たくさん食べたというよりは食べ過ぎてしまい，すぐに眠気が襲ってきました。この後初めてジェンガをやりましたがとても面白かったです。食べ過ぎてしまったため，寮に戻ってから少し休むことにしました。この日ある女子学生がチョコレートのお礼にと私たちの部屋までアイスを持ってきてくれて，とても嬉しかったです。
今週は，自分の研究プロジェクトやアドバンスド・プラミングの授業で出されたPOV-Rayの課題のために多くの時間を費やしました。この研究のために，declare 文を使用してソファを描いたのですがあまり上手くいかなかったので次はマクロを使用しようと思います。マクロが場合によってはとても有効だそうです。
現在は家の模型を作成する計画ですが，今の時点で壁と床しかないのでこれから自分で作成した家具をそこに置いていきます。授業の課題に関しては，本物のりんごのようなものを試しに作っていて，出来上がったら窓のとなりのテーブルに置く予定です。私は課題に取り組む際は，自分が得たすべての知識をフル活用するように心がけています。
来週は火曜日に茶道部，水曜日に華道の授業に行く予定です。

On Monday morning we returned to Kushiro around 5 am extremely tired so with the permission from Kamiya we were able to stay at dorm and just sleep. Sadly the sleep was a little short because we hadn’t remembered the fire drill that was scheduled on that day. Oh well we should have read email and we would have gotten a reminder but were too tired to think of that. So on Monday there didn’t happen pretty much anything in school nor outside the school.
On Tuesday I can’t recall anything either other than continuing sitting in the lab trying to get the aquarium going. I managed to do a little more of the decorations including a frog and a skull.
On Wednesday we had a normal school day: lab, English with Eric, lab, English with Brian and again lab. On the second English lesson it was though extremely fun because we played scrabble, I sucked at it but at least I had fun! Later that evening after the evening dinner Munjuu suddenly came to our room asking if we are interested to go eat takoyaki with her and the international guys. We weren’t that sure of it because we had just eaten the dinner at dorm but we went with them anyways. We went to some woman’s house and went straight to sit in her living room. It was a little bit weird to just go in someone’s house and be like home but the trouble was fast forgotten when I found out she had a cat. The cat was adorable and she was our “entertainment” till the lady was ready to cook the food for us. The takoyaki was good and I am really happy I went there in the end. When we finally left there after 8 or so it was raining.
Again on Thursday the school day was normal lab and… well more lab. We still continued to do our projects and I finally got myself some fish parts done that, if I understood right, aren’t good enough. After the school though we gave all the dormitory’s girls some chocolate that Milka had brought from Finland. We asked Munjuu to help us to get the word going and she asked Marie to write it on a whiteboard. Finally at 8 pm we went to the kitchen with the chocolates and felt ourselves extremely stupid before Marie came there because every girl were standing on the hallway and not brave enough to enter the kitchen and get a piece of chocolate. Finally all that came got their piece of chocolate and some, who are not mentioned by name, took a little bit extra because they liked it so much.
On Friday we started to really do our new assignment in the advanced programming and we pretty much used all the lab time doing that. At 3 pm we had a Japanese lesson with Kamiya senseis wife. After the lesson I can’t remember anything worth mentioning and to be honest I won’t even give Saturday its own chapter.
On Sunday we were invited by Megumi and Mogi to have around lunch time a “takoyaki party” at Mogi’s house. It was extremely fun and the takoyaki was the best I had eaten until now. I even helped doing it! The frying was fun even though it became a bit hard when Megumi got a little bit exited with the cheese. We ate so much takoyaki that the rest of the day went pretty much trying to get it stay down. (picture taken by Megumi)
What comes to the next weeks plans, there for ones is something: we plan to go on Monday (so happened already) to the tea ceremony club and on Wednesday we are planning to take part on the flower arrangement class.

月曜日の早朝５時に釧路に到着してからとても疲れていたので神谷先生の許可をもらい学校を休み一日寮で過ごしました。しかし，この日寮で火災訓練があるのを私たちはすっかり忘れていて，ゆっくり寝ている場合ではありませんでした。事前にメールで知らされてはいたのですが，それも思い出せないほど疲れていたのです。このようなわけで，月曜日は授業でも寮でも特に変わったことはありませんでした。
火曜日は，実験室にこもって自分のプロジェクト，蛙など水中の生物の作成をずっとしていました。それ以外のことはあまり思い出せません。
水曜日は，通常どおりの授業でした。エリック先生，ブライアン先生との英会話の授業と実験室の繰り返しでした。ブライアン先生の授業でscrabbleというゲームをやり，クラスは大盛り上がりでした。私はしくじってしまいましたが，とても楽しかったですね。夕方はムンジュさんが部屋に訪ねてきて他の留学生達と一緒にたこ焼きパーティにと誘ってくれました。私たちは寮の食事を食べたばかりだったのですが，とりあえず行ってみることにしました。ある女性お宅の居間に入りましたが人の家にお邪魔するのは少し違和感がありました。しかし猫を飼っていたこともあって不安はすぐに消え去り，たこ焼きができるまでずっと猫と遊んでいました。美味しかったですし，来て良かったです。8時に帰るころには雨が降っていました。
またいつものように木曜日が始まり，今週はいつもより実験室で過ごす時間が多かったように思います。プロジェクトかなり進み，魚まで作成しましたが，まだまだ十分ではありません。放課後，私たちはミルカさんがフィンランドから持ってきたチョコレートを寮の女子学生みんなに配ることにしました。ムンジュさんにみんなに伝えてもらうように頼み，それからまりえさんがホワイトボードで告知してくれました。しかし，8時にチョコレートを持って寮のキッチンに行っても誰も入ってこなくて，女の子達がみんな廊下で待っていることをまりえさんから知らされた時は，なんだかおかしくなってしまいました。結局最後はみんなが集まってくれて，中には何人か，名前はわかりませんが，チョコレートが大好きでおかわりした子もいました。
金曜日は，実験室にこもりアドバンスド・プログラミングの新しい課題に取り組み始めました。午後3時には神谷先生の奥さんによる日本語のレッスンがありましたが授業について書くことが思いつかず，土曜日にも特に何もなかったので，レポートには書きません。
日曜日は，恵さんと一緒に茂木さんの家でお昼にたこ焼きをしに行きました。とても楽しく，たこ焼きは今まで食べた中で一番美味しかったですね。それに私も実際に作るのを手伝いました。恵さんが作ったチーズ入りのたこ焼きは苦戦しましたが，自分たちで焼くのはおもしろかったです。あまりに食べ過ぎてしまって，おなかを落ち着かせるのが一苦労でした。（恵さんが撮った写真です。）
来週のプランとしては，月曜日に茶道部に行き，水曜日は華道の授業に参加する予定です。
